December 2010

Snow has covered the ground and with more in the forecast it's time to start thinking about winter activities. It won't be long until the groomers are out clearing the snowmobile and cross country ski trails.

Stores are decorated for the season and there's a host of events to attend to get yourself in the holiday spirit.

Exhibition « Iron Sculptures » from the artist Anne-Marie Sirois at the ARTcadienne gallery until January the 3rd 2011. Free admission. Carrefour Beausoleil.

A Christmas Open House from noon to 8pm. Stop by the Miramichi Landings Welcome Centre at 1733 Water Street and join in the festive celebrations. Refreshments will be served all day, and there will door prizes to be won as well. Be sure to stick around after the Parade of Lights, as our guest of honour, Santa Claus himself, will be making a special appearance.

The 25th Annual Christmas Parade of Lights begins at 6:30 p.m. from NBCC Miramichi on University Avenue making it's way to Historic Water Street.

Murder on the Menu - Christmas Theme Murder Mystery Dinner at King George Bed & Breakfast The evening begins at 6:00PM and includes a 5-course dinner beginning with hors d'oeuvres and a 'cocktail hour'; then everyone proceeds to the table to enjoy what happens next!

Miramichi Country Music Opry Christmas Party featuring a 5 piece band, potluck lunch and a great time for everyone. $8 admission.

Miramichi SPCA is holding it's annual Pet Pictures with Santa on December 4th from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm and December 5th from noon until 4:00 pm. Saltwater Sounds at 1738 Water Street is our host again this year! Bring your pet(s) out to meet our special guest Santa, Bill Fraser and have a picture taken in time for Christmas! All proceeds from this event will go to the Miramichi Branch Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals.

There will be a Christmas Bake Sale 10 am to 2 pm, at the Knights of Columbus Hall on Newcastle Blvd. All proceeds to Haiti Village Health/Etienne Bruny's Orphanage in Haiti.

Festive Tea Party at Governor’s Mansion, 62 St. Patrick’s Drive. Spend a while relaxing away from the chaos of Christmas shopping! Tea will be served between 1p.m. and 4 p.m. in the historic dining room of Governor’s Mansion. Sample festive cakes, sandwiches, and refreshing tea.
