July - August 2011

Summer is in full swing with so many things to see and do in Miramichi.

Take part in a variety of activities offered through the New Brunswick Tourism Experience Collection along the Miramichi River Route. From tubing along the river, an authentic kitchen party and salmon fishing there's lots to keep the whole family busy for days.

July 14 - 17
Canada's Irish Festival in Miramichi kicks off on Thursday, July 14 with an outdoor concert at Waterford Green and continues until Saturday the 17th with pubs, cultural activities and a family day. Live at 5, the CTV Atlantic popular news magazine show, will be broadcasting from the festival on Friday so be sure to catch it between 5 and 6 pm (AST).

July 20
Due to the first sell out performance of, "The Icing On The Cake" The Heritage Players will take to the stage once again with a Dessert/Theatre. It will feature stories and musical impersonations of guests who have performed at the festival such as, Rita MacNeil, Men of the Deeps, Tommy Hunter, Stompin Tom. just to name a few. Tickets are $15.00 each and by reservations only , call Susan at 622 -1780 or email susanbutler@xplornet.com. There are only 200 tickets available. Show time is 7:00pm

July 20 - 22
The Miramichi Exhibition, celebrates it's 88th year with Midway Rides, Farmyard Display, Farmland Babies, Nightly Entertainment, 4-H Competition, Light Horse & Pony Display, Market

July 23
The Eddy Coffey Group will be at the Miramichi Country Music Opry on Saturday, July 23rd. This group from Newfoundland raise funds to support our Troops & Veterans and also the Children's Miracle Network. Tickets are $10 in advance and $12 at the door. Call 836-9988 or 622-4403.

Starting Saturday, July 23 and continuing on Saturday & Sunday evenings during the warm summer months, the King George B & B presents "Dining on the Deck". Featuring alfresco evening meals along with a classic movie for couples to enjoy. Dinner begins at 8:00 pm and the movie starts at 9:30 or nightfall. What could be more romantic? We supply the ambiance, the lap blankets and fire pit (in case it gets chilly) and you watch the movie while enjoying your dessert and coffee or that final glass of wine. You select your meal choices from a pre-set menu offered when you call or email your reservation request. Each meal includes a complimentary glass of wine, appetizer, entrée, and dessert along with coffee or tea. Seating is limited to 8 so please call now to reserve your table. Cost per person $29.95 plus applicable taxes and gratuities.
*Rain dates will be scheduled if weather does not permit outside dining on the evening selected.

July 28 - August 1
The Salmon & Fiddlehead Festival in Doaktown, NB is chock full of activities like suppers, entertainment, dessert theatre, breakfast, market, helicopter tours, home & garden tour, antique cars, bbq, river run & clean up, golf, parade and fireworks.

July 29 - 31
It's sure to be a toe tappin' good time at the Miramichi Fiddle Festival. All events are held at the Seamen's Museum and include concerts, breakfasts and a pot luck supper. Schedule

July 31 - August 5
The 54th Annual Miramichi Folksong Festival offers a full line up of entertainers including Laura Smith, Nathan Rogers along with a host of local and regional talent. Starting with the open air gospel concert followed by noon luncheons, evening concerts and the "Folk Song Feast & Fun" experience, it promises a week full of music and down home hospitality.

August 15
Acadian Day festivities at Waterford Green. Flag raising, tintamarre, Ave Marie Stella, music by Laurie Leblanc (La Pitoune) and the group Entoucas . Free admission, everyone welcome! Venders on site.

August 19 -20
The 1st Annual Miramichi Rotary Dragon Boat Festival launches at Waterford Green. Teams of 24 people will race against each other in 46ft dragon boats to raise funds for Chatham Rotary Club. There will be vendors, entertainment and fun for the whole family.
